On Turning 35 and Other News (plus robots)

Today I turn 35. There’s no denying it: I’m a grownup now. I’m knee-deep in adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it.

I’m also knee-deep in cardboard boxes and newspaper, bubble wrap and packing tape. Have I mentioned that we’re moving across the street? This means that the house I’m looking at from my living room window will soon be the house I’m sitting in, looking through the living room window at the house I’m sitting in now. And also, the people across the street are moving (temporarily) into our house. How’s that for real estate irony?

You can’t help but think about the idea of excess and what’s really necessary when you’re preparing for something like that. That’s why this post by Shannan really spoke to me when I read it yesterday. I’m guilty of falling into the trap of the clearance rack myself, as my overflowing closet and drawers would testify. I think we could all stand to be a little more mindful of the stuff we’re packing into our lives.

A quick water update- our 10-day  Fundraising Challenge team from The Mission List has already raised enough money for a lifetime of safe water for 42 people in the developing world. That’s great progress toward our goal of 100! Let’s keep it up. Click here to make a donation to water.org.

AND…The awesome Ellie Bellie Kids has teamed up with The Mission List in our fundraising efforts: for each robot sold from now through Monday, $5 will be donated to Water.org! Just click on the link to purchase yours (aren’t they adorable? My kids love these guys).

Happy weekend, friends.
